Refund policy

Absolutely. One important legal point first: because Good Habit sells online in South Africa, you should not describe the policy as if South African law itself gives every online customer a blanket 14-day cancellation right. Under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA), section 44, the statutory cooling-off period for online goods is generally 7 days after receipt. (SAFLII)

However, Good Habit can voluntarily offer a 14-day return window, provided the policy does not take away rights customers have under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) or ECTA. Defective/unsafe goods have separate statutory protections, including the CPA's six-month implied warranty provisions. (SAFLII)

So I would use the following policy for your store:

Good Habit™ — 14-Day Returns & Refund Policy

Effective Date: 17 August 2026

At Good Habit, we want you to feel confident when purchasing from us. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may request a return within 14 days of receiving your order, subject to the terms below.

This policy is intended to provide customers with a straightforward return process while preserving all rights available to consumers under applicable South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA).

1. Our 14-Day Return Period

You may request a return within 14 calendar days from the date you receive your order.

For a change-of-mind return, the product must:

  • Be unused and in its original condition.

  • Be returned with all original accessories, nozzles, components and included items.

  • Be returned in its original packaging where reasonably possible.

  • Not show signs of damage, misuse, excessive handling or modification.

  • Be accompanied by your order details or proof of purchase.

A return request must be submitted within the 14-day period.

Our 14-day return period is a voluntary Good Habit return policy and does not limit or replace any consumer rights you may have under South African law.

2. Hygiene Products

Because the Good Habit™ Oral Wand is an oral-hygiene product that comes into contact with the mouth, we take hygiene and customer safety seriously.

For change-of-mind returns, we may refuse a return where the product has been used or where accepting the product back would create a legitimate hygiene or health concern.

This does not affect your legal rights where the product is defective, unsafe, not of good quality, not reasonably durable, or otherwise does not comply with applicable South African consumer law.

3. Defective, Damaged or Incorrect Products

If your product arrives damaged, defective, unsafe, incomplete or different from what you ordered, please contact Good Habit as soon as reasonably possible.

Please provide:

  • Your order number.

  • A description of the problem.

  • Photographs or video showing the issue, where appropriate.

  • Photographs of the packaging if the product arrived damaged.

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Protection Act remain unaffected.

Where applicable, the CPA provides consumers with rights in relation to defective, unsafe or unsuitable goods. In particular, section 56 provides an implied warranty of quality and, subject to the requirements of the Act, allows a consumer within six months of delivery to return qualifying defective or unsafe goods and elect repair, replacement or a refund. (SAFLII)

4. Online Cooling-Off Rights

For applicable electronic transactions, South African law provides a statutory cooling-off right under section 44 of the ECTA.

A consumer may cancel an applicable transaction for goods within seven days after receiving the goods, without giving a reason and without penalty, subject to the Act. The consumer may be responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods. Where payment has already been made, the ECTA provides for a refund within the period prescribed by the Act. (SAFLII)

Where your statutory rights provide greater protection than this policy, those statutory rights will continue to apply.

5. How to Request a Return

To request a return, contact Good Habit through the customer-support contact details provided on our website.

Your request should include:

Order Number:
Full Name:
Date Order Was Received:
Reason for Return:
Photographs/Video (if applicable):

Good Habit will provide return instructions after reviewing your request.

Please do not send a product back without first contacting us and receiving return instructions.

6. Return Shipping

For a change-of-mind return under our voluntary 14-day policy, the customer is generally responsible for the reasonable direct cost of returning the product to Good Habit.

Where the return is required because the goods are defective, damaged, incorrect, unsafe or otherwise covered by a statutory consumer right, Good Habit will handle return costs in accordance with the applicable law.

7. Inspection of Returned Products

Once we receive a returned product, we may inspect it to determine whether it meets the requirements of this policy.

If a change-of-mind return does not meet the requirements of this policy, Good Habit may decline the voluntary return or refund, subject always to the customer's statutory rights.

8. Refunds

If your return is approved, Good Habit will process the applicable refund using the original payment method where reasonably possible.

Refund processing times may depend on your payment provider or financial institution.

Where a refund is required by applicable South African law, Good Habit will process the refund within the timeframe required by that law.

9. Exchanges

Where appropriate, Good Habit may offer an exchange instead of a refund.

If your product is defective or otherwise covered by statutory consumer protections, your legal remedies under applicable South African law will not be restricted by this section.

10. Items Excluded From the Voluntary 14-Day Change-of-Mind Policy

The voluntary 14-day change-of-mind policy does not apply where:

  • The product has been used.

  • The product has been damaged through misuse, negligence or improper handling.

  • The product has been modified or tampered with.

  • Required components or accessories are missing.

  • The product cannot reasonably be resold for legitimate hygiene or health reasons after use.

These exclusions do not remove any rights you may have under applicable South African consumer law.

11. Your Statutory Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or waive any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African law.

Where there is a conflict between this policy and a mandatory provision of applicable law, the applicable law will prevail.

The Consumer Protection Act provides, among other protections, rights concerning defective and unsafe goods and rights relating to certain returns. (SAFLII)

12. Changes to This Policy

Good Habit may update this Return & Refund Policy from time to time.

The version published on our website at the time of your purchase will generally apply to that purchase, subject to any mandatory legal requirements.
